DEEP COLLABORATION, CONSTANT EVOLUTION
Collaboration here isn't a buzzword: it's woven into everything we do. Teams of English and Spanish or Chinese teachers collaborate to nurture their students' social, emotional and academic growth. Teacher teams share responsibility for the curriculum and plan together daily. This intense collaboration is challenging as well as exciting: we're always evolving, learning from each other and seeking to improve.
LANGUAGE IMMERSION
Avenues students will graduate fluent in a second language and at ease beyond their borders. To this end, in all grades N-5 students alternate their days between English and Spanish or English and Chinese instruction.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Teaching Fellows/Assistant Teachers work closely with Early Learning Center teachers to plan and carry out developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum and activities for 3-5 year olds, helping students develop comprehension and oral language in Spanish, Chinese, and English. The teaching team will design processes, apps and environments to make more fulfilling and useful experiences for students. Assistants also help and lead hands-on activities to foster cognitive and socio-emotional skills.
You will also use “design thinking” to help build a robust learning atmosphere that leads students to value being at school and feel a part of a joyful community. You will collaborate intensively and daily with colleagues to use creativity, empathy for people and strong problem-solving skills to create student-centered learning and school culture. Utilizing skills to design effective and engaging interfaces, interactions, and student experiences, you will inspire trust and confidence among parents and families.
