Basic Purpose – The Senior Maintenance and Capital Project Manager will manage and implement various projects related to meat production operations and expansion for all US Operations. This role will oversee the planning, design, and execution of assigned projects such as plant expansions, equipment installations, and designs, etc. He/she will coordinate internal and external resources and work closely with the maintenance and production departments to ensure the successful completion of various projects. This role will report to the Chief Operating Officer and the Maintenance Director. The backup for this role will be the Director of Maintenance.
Description-
Prepares and updates project engineering procedures including description of the project administration process and contract documentation guidelines.
Provides technical oversight and coordination of project engineering work; through project coordination meetings and other means, monitors progress against project schedules and budgets; reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, contract requirements, and related specifications; recommends allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals.
Monitors progress and performance of capital projects against capital improvement plan; evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, and schedule of the projects.
Develops and monitors project engineering schedules, budgets, and forecasts
Participates actively as a member of the plant management team; provides necessary support for other plant functions/activities as determined by manager
Maintains accurate and up-to-date project files and drawings, and identifies corrections for safety, ergonomic and operational problems through proper design of equipment
Applies any environmental regulations and ensures they are respected
Reads, analyzes, and interprets a variety of instructions, manuals, and procedures in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form
Develops bid packages including scope of work
Support all projects across all facilities
Demonstrates professionalism in all aspects of plant’s rules and regulations and encourages quality personnel performance
Ensures that all identified contractors are suitably pre-qualified/ assured for the delivery of the project.
Provides technical direction to supply chain for the negotiation of the purchase of any good and/ or services required for the delivery of the project.
Facilitates and participates in the planning process of and provides input for decisions affecting facility operations, maintenance and repair, and technical task/project execution.
Education / Training
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management or related field required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred
5 years’ of project and/or plant engineering management experience
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Related Experience/Requirements
5 years of relevant work experience; preferably in Engineering and Project Management
3-5 years of Management experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Food Processing, including Thermal Processes and/or sanitation
Experience in Automation and Controls Systems preferred
Qualifications
Ability to establish and meet deadlines and prioritize work
Experience in private manufacturing sector
Ability to initiate, compile, analyze and provide accurate reporting
Strong negotiating skills
Knowledge and understanding of multiple trades to detect issues/opportunities regarding progress to schedule, workload and manpower, materials, etc. required
Knowledge of facility equipment, construction, automated equipment, water processing, waste management equipment, and maintenance techniques required
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Knowledge and experience in continuous improvement processes, such as Kaizen, 6 Sigma, etc.
Ability to work with confidential information
Working knowledge of MS Project, AutoCAD, and other standard programs and systems for updating, modifying, and reporting project progress
Detail and deadline oriented
Strong decision making and strong problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must read and write English
Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
Travel required regularly in-state or out-of-state
Relates well to people, builds rapport along all dimensions of the organization, resolves conflicts; provides clear direction and information
Proficiency using presentation software to explain complex information to non-technical management personnel and other stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Job requires workers to lifting, use of ladders, catwalks. Must be able to: step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders as needed.
