Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required. 6 years experience in an avionics/electrical career field; or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and four (4) years related experience. A & P license, FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.
Position Purpose:Provides guidance while performing operational, functional tests and repairs of avionics/electronic, aircraft equipment and systems to ensure a defect free aircraft. Provides superior technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact. Demonstrates the knowledge and leadership skills required. to define and implement process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising Safety or Quality. Displays the leadership skills required. to fill in for the team leader, ensuring that Safety and Quality are always enforced while adhering to daily work plans to maintain schedule requirements.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate superior technical skills and expertise in avionics and acft systems operational testing, maintaining test equipment, electronic systems and troubleshooting as required. Provides training to personnel to support cross-training goals while ensuring a safety conscience, quality oriented, skilled workforce .
Must be On-Call available, with the ability to be on site or dispatched on the FAST aircraft within two hours of the initial contact from Gulfstream. Must be able to communicate effectively with the customer, technicians, FAST flight crews, Tech Ops, Field Svc Rep and Site Leadership. Responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising assigned FAST Technicians as needed .
Perform, oversee or coach the installation and functionally testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system .
Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, troubleshoots and teaches troubleshooting processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems .
Coordinate with the Inspection Dept to ensure compliance with internal and FAA inspection and doc requirements. Act as delegated Quality rep as assigned on road trips. Properly complete work order sign-offs, logbook entries, shift turnovers, expense reports and all paper work in a timely manner. Ensures that work accomplished meets quality stds and specs .
Enforce the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program and all safety regulations .
Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the customer; providing one-on-one direct familiarization briefings with the customer during the road trip .
Provide regular updates on aircraft status and all customer support activity to Field Svc Rep and mgmt .
Additional Functions:
- Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other acft systems or other disciplines, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations and repairs .
APU run qualification and engine run qualification preferred. .
Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams .
Self-inspection capability for all avionics testing functions in applicable areas .
Where required, teach the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system .
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Formal training in Gulfstream product line maintenance procedures and practices preferred.
Must possess a working knowledge of company policies and procedures, Repair Station and QC Manual, pertinent process specs, and tech reference materials.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
