Position Description
The International Leadership Charter High School is a high performing college-preparatory high school located in the Riverdale/Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. International Leadership Charter High School is dedicated to delivering a high quality college prep program for all students. From 2013-2023, Our school performed in the Top 1% out of 500 NYC Public High Schools and top 25% of High Schools nationally and was the recipient of a Bronze Award from the U.S. News & World Report for Best High Schools. International Leadership Charter High School implements an academically rigorous Regents and college-preparatory curriculum that elevates students’ intellectual capacity and provides superior high school education.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of International Leadership CHS, an understanding and respect for our school culture, and our commitment to sending 100% of students to college. The Director of Literacy and Academic Intervention will need to demonstrate deep expertise in Language Arts and the NYS Common Core Standards. As the Director of Literacy and Academic intervention at International Leadership Charter HS, you will develop and support the implementation of a rigorous, student-centered literacy program and data driven response to intervention (RTI) for our high school and new middle school. You will work closely with school leadership to ensure the curriculum aligns to the school’s instructional approach and drives high academic outcomes for all students.
Key Duties:
- Developing a rigorous and engaging Common Core-aligned literacy curriculum, focusing on grades 6-12, to include assessments, scope and sequences, unit guides, book lists, and lesson plans
- Designing assessments that align to the school’s instructional approach accurately reflect meaningful student learning, and ensure readiness for rigorous standardized assessments
- Collaborating with school leadership on targeted professional development to support the instructional team in developing content knowledge, implementing curriculum, and analyzing results
- Utilizing performance data to assess the effectiveness of curricular design and implementation with an eye to continuous improvement
- Use data to develop a comprehensive and differentiated approach to intervention
- Help in building a positive student and team culture across the school
- Ensure all decisions and actions are rooted in what is best for student achievement
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree required, Advanced Literacy degree and certification preferred
- Have 5+ years of experience in ELA/Literacy curriculum and assessment development and implementation, preferably for middle school and High School grades
- Have instructional experience with a record of high levels of student achievement and a demonstrated ability to deliver effective RTI
- Be passionate about teaching and learning
- Hold exceptionally high personal standards for performance and be a person of high moral character and with well-developed emotional intelligence
- Demonstrate an ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize strategically
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to and alignment with the mission, beliefs, and values of International Leadership Charter School, and to going above and beyond the requirements of the job
- Have the ability to work within a fast-paced and dynamic team environment where responsibility for student success is shared and owned by everyone

The compensation will be commensurate with level of experience and a record of demonstrated success. We are seeking an individual of outstanding quality with a track record of positive outcomes.
