The Scientific Communications and Information Sciences (SCIS) Library Support Specialist is a library support role within SCIS Library team that reports directly to the Director of the Library. The Library Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing the usage of the journals and books of which we subscribe as well as troubleshooting any problems that may arise. The ideal candidate will possess business acumen along with technical skills, excellent communication skills, and background in pharma/biotech.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $34.28 - $47.59
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Education:
- MLS in library sciences or the equivalent
- BS in life sciences
Primary Assignments:
- Oversees document delivery company requests; handles any problems that may arise with end users obtaining articles
- Obtains journal articles and book chapters for agency partners
- Triages Library Help mailbox emails
- Works with translation company to upload finished translations to the Clinical Literature Information Center; updates metadata as necessary
- Create reports based on document delivery usage
- Reports on publisher “tokens” usage ROI to inform future purchases
- Manages access to systems such as pharmacopeias and databases
- Contributes to user acceptance testing and to system development lifecycle
