We are working with a distribution company that is looking for a talented Director of Logistics to optimize their transportation and operations network. This is a high visibility role that will oversee the logistics functions across multiple sites and manage and develop senior leader and teams.
Responsibilities:
Lead the Transportation Department:
- Oversee all functions, including dispatch, driver safety, fleet management, and compliance.
Evaluate Network Changes:
- Partner cross-functionally with key stakeholders to assess changes in our transportation and logistics network.
- Identify opportunities for improvement while leading operational execution in transportation.
Financial Responsibility:
- Act as the P&L owner, accountable for division logistics performance and the transportation profit and loss statement.
Strategic Planning:
- Evaluate distribution network performance and changes due to seasonality, customer growth, new territories, and product impact.
- Develop strategies for efficiency improvements.
Safety and Compliance:
- Manage safety, compliance, maintenance, and performance of company-owned and leased transportation assets.
Supplier Partnerships:
- Leverage key supplier partnerships to enhance services and reduce downtime and costs.
Technology Optimization:
- Serve as the business process owner of the Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Ensure TMS adoption and optimize system capabilities for efficiency gains.
Market Assessments:
- Lead transportation impact assessments for market expansions or changes.
- Understand costs and drive performance enhancements.
Sales Collaboration:
- Work with the sales team to improve delivery service performance, driving increased revenue and profitability.
Financial Solutions:
- Evaluate options and deliver solutions to achieve corporate financial goals and initiatives.
Warehouse Coordination:
- Partner with the warehousing team to oversee maintenance and capital planning for warehouse material handling equipment.
Budget and Fleet Management:
- Collaborate cross-functionally to prepare the annual transportation budget and capital purchase requirements.
