Chief Operating Officer, Nonprofit

We are helping our dynamic client hire a COO for their Houston organization which helps ensure a thriving, vibrant and engaged Jewish community locally and around the world. This leader will direct operations and financials as well as oversee information technology and human resources. Working closely with the CEO and the management team, the focus will be on daily activities as well as strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop and implement operational policies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Analyze operations data, identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions and enhancements.
- Work closely with finance management to develop and control annual operating budget and explain financial results to management.
- Work closely with CEO to implement organizational vision, strategy, plans, security, budgets, forecasting, reporting and procedures.
- Lead, motivate and mentor team, providing vision and fostering the culture of community engagement and philanthropy.
- Build cross-functional relationships with philanthropy, education, marketing and impact teams.
- Anticipate and plan for changes to current organizational policies, practices and systems needed to move in new strategic directions following the mission.
- Optimize systems and processes including CRM, budgeting, forecasting and reporting for efficiency and financial stability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
- Nonprofit experience preferred
- 10+ years' experience in progressively responsible roles
- 5+ years leading teams with indirect reports
- Excellence in organizational and people management skills
- Stellar communication and public speaking skills
- Proactive mindset with ability to anticipate implications and consequences
