Seeking a Food Safety Quality Assurance Technician in Escondido, CA! Position is full time, 100% onsite, M-F 6am-2:30pm OR 11am-7:30pm weekly shift with a pay range of $24.00 to $27.00/hr. D.O.E.
Position Summary:
Primarily responsible for monitoring, verification, validation of our food safety and product quality during the manufacturing process, through on-line observation and documentation. Communicates with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse for food safety and Quality/GMP issues during the process. Follows-up with electronic input and written recommendations as needed. Follows and maintains Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) at all times. Monitors the quality of incoming raw material.
Essential Job Functions:

- Works towards attainment of Food Safety and Quality Standards for products produced and other work assigned.
- Completes all assigned training by deadlines.
- Responsible for packaging pre-approval.
- Responsible for completing Quality and CCP checks, as specified by the quality program requirements.
- Performs GMP checks, reports deviations, and provides written documentation on the issues.
- Conducts moisture, and any other required analytical tests on finished product.
- Is cognizant of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and reports areas of concern.
- Assists in answering product quality questions during the production process.
- Assures new/revised Standard Operating Processes (S.O.P.s) are in production.
- Assists as necessary in monitoring new product runs in the plant, SQF or other audit inspections.
- Monitors testing as needed, of ingredients introduced in the plant or in trial stages.
- Works with leadership to ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and other related programs are followed.
- Assists in training/be a Buddy for back-up employees or other FSQA Technicians.
- Maintains effective communication, collaboration and working relationships with Quality, Food Safety, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, and HR and all other support and leadership roles.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, policies and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Must be willing to work between three locations, all within 10 miles of each other.
- This role may require overtime, especially for the FSQA Technician opening the production week. Flexibility in scheduling is essential due to production requirements. The shift may start as early as 11 pm on Sunday nights, resulting in overtime hours of 10-12 on Mondays. Furthermore, all Quality Assurance staff must be prepared for up to 12 hours of overtime daily and weekend to cover for absences such as sick leave, personal time off, or during vacation periods.
- Performs environmental monitoring swabs, ATP, allergen swabs, and pre-op inspections.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 2 years of successful performance in previous similar role, High school and equivalent math skills
- Bilingual fluent in English and Spanish preferred but not required
- Ability to work at the speed of production
- Excellent inventory skills associated with Quality
- Effective communication skills both oral and written, can write correspondence
- Leadership skills and comfortable enforcing Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices
- Maintain compliance with HACCP/HARPC, SQF and placing product on hold
- Organizational skills; working multiple priorities and assignments
- Timely and accurate completion of Reports
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement (CI) and willingness to learn and apply CI
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
