Our client, a fun-loving and fast growing childrenswear brand, is seeking a Senior Merchandiser/ Planner to join their team in NYC. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic merchandise plans to optimize inventory levels, maximize sales, and ensure profitability, leading the buying + planning function.
Responsibilities
- Develop seasonal merchandise plans in alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and consumer insights to forecast demand and identify opportunities for growth.
- Collaborate with product development and design teams to create compelling assortments that meet customer needs and preferences.
- Monitor and evaluate sales performance, inventory turnover, and margin targets, adjusting plans as needed to optimize results.
- Conduct regular reviews of assortment plans, making recommendations for assortment optimization, SKU rationalization, and pricing strategies.
- Drive promotional planning and markdown strategies to maximize sell-through and minimize excess inventory.
- Lead cross-functional meetings and presentations to communicate merchandise strategies, highlight risks, and propose solutions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Planning, Buying or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in merchandise planning, preferably in the wholesale apparel industry, with a focus on children's wear.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence decision-making.
- Proven track record of driving results, managing complex projects, and adapting to changing business priorities.
- Passion for the baby apparel industry and a genuine interest in creating products that enhance the lives of families.
Salary: $100,000-$135,000 Commensurate with Experience
