Job Title: Compliance Professional 3/Duty Drawback Specialist
Job Location: Charlotte, NC or Headquarters in Orlando, FL (Hybrid)
Pay Rate: $35-37/HR on W2
Duration: 12+ months (Possibility of extension)
Shift Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Position Description:
The Duty Drawback Specialist is responsible of all aspects of the Siemens Energy Inc.
Duty Drawback Program and will report to the Head of Customs Reporting, Controlling & Quality Management.
The Duty Drawback Specialist top responsibilities include:
Coordinate, maintain and execute a compliant duty drawback program, including data and document collection (import, export, receiving, manufacturing, etc.), and auditing prior to claim submissions.
Directing the workload of duty drawback broker ensuring the broker has accurate data and documents to timely submit claims.
Reviewing the businesses import and export activity to ensure refund opportunities are maximized.
Responsible for monitoring drawback bonds sufficiency and working with Customs Regulatory to make bond changes as needed.
Managing and documenting duty drawback refunds, ensuring allocation to the appropriate business area and reporting to Finance.
Drive process improvement in close collaboration with Manufacturing, Accounting & Finance to maximize refund per manufactured unit.
Coordinating with the Siemens Energy Inc., businesses, Customs Regulatory and Duty Drawback broker for the review and response of Drawback Desk Reviews/CF28’s.
Remain up to date on federal regulation changes impacting the duty drawback program and evaluate the impact to current processes.
Conduct feasibility analysis of SEI and affiliate businesses eligibility to leverage Duty Drawback and Foreign Trade Zones.
Advises U.S. business areas on Duty Drawback and Foreign Trade Zone questions and strategies to facilitate compliant duty optimization and recovery.
Taking initiative to collaborate with business areas and Customs Functional Excellence team to drive digitalization and the modernization of data collection / processing for Duty Drawback program.
Maintenance and update of current drawback Manufacturing Rulings, and preparation and submission of rulings for any new activity.
Maintaining Drawback Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions current and develop new Procedures/Templates/Forms/Fact Sheets as required.
Develop and provide Duty Drawback related training to peers, colleagues, stakeholders, and businesses, as necessary to maintain a high level of compliance awareness and knowledge within Siemens Energy.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience in related field.
Minimum of 5+ years of successful experience in U.S. Customs / Import Operations.
Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist is preferred.
Knowledge of CFR 15 and 19, with in-depth knowledge of Duty Drawback Regulations.
Highly motivated with strong drive to self-organize work, and the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing environment.
Ability to identify and propose corrective actions to resolve issues.
Hands-on experience with ERPs, preferably SAP, and Global Trade management software.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio) and other tools to analyze data and ability to effectively use office automation and software tools.
Strong analytical skill, knowledge in data analytics is a plus.
Ability to work with a team and independently, with an organized disciplined approach.
Ability to work with cross functional (including procurement, finance, sales, logistics, order management and engineering) and cross-cultural teams located in different time zones.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to interact with cross functional teams.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
