Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Benefits Associate Attorney to join their legal team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal support on matters related to employee benefits, including retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in benefits law, excellent research and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on compliance with ERISA, HIPPA, and COBRA regulations related to employee benefits and executive compensation.
- Prepare, review, and revise plan documents, policies, SPDs, and other benefits-related materials.
- Ensure that retirement and welfare plans comply with applicable laws and regulations; assist with corrections and audits when necessary.
- Assist in benefits-related litigation, including drafting briefs, preparing for depositions, and conducting legal research.
- Work closely with clients to address their benefits-related needs, including plan design, administration, and compliance issues.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting employee benefits law and communicate relevant updates to clients and internal teams.
- Work alongside other attorneys, paralegals, and staff within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training sessions for clients and staff on employee benefits and related legal matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Texas Bar
- 2+ years of experience in employee benefits law, ERISA, or a related field (prior experience in a law firm setting is preferred).
- Strong understanding of federal and state laws governing employee benefits, including ERISA, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, and HIPAA.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
