A leader in Building Materials Manufacturing is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer to support the facility in the Greater Allentown Area by continually identifying opportunities for improvement. As an Automation Engineer, you will initiate actions to improve processes and production methods with the goal of best meeting customer needs.
Responsibilities:
- Support production areas with the aim of resolving assembly and manufacturability issues.
- Confer with shop floor and support functions to assist in resolving manufacturing problems using lean and six sigma methodologies.
- Observe and analyze current methods/processes to make recommendations in areas of improvement.
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, time management tools.
- Proficient with Rockwell Automation software, such as Studio5000, FactoryTalk View Studio and similar.
- Able to interface with outside suppliers and co-design component parts with vendors, or as directed by senior engineers.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing process improvement techniques utilizing engineering methodologies a plus, including, but not limited to Continuous Improvements, SQDCI, Lean Six Sigma, TPS, etc.
Education and Experience
- BS in Engineering or related technical degree, and/or equivalent practical experience.
This role is currently offered as a full-time night-shift opportunity (4 days/week) or a full-time weekend-shift opportunity (3 days/week).
