Commissioning Manager
Location: Multiple Project Sites Across the State
Travel: Up to 70% - field based
The Commissioning Manager is responsible for managing safe, optimal, and environmentally sound commissioning activities for our projects. This role requires overseeing multiple projects across a state and ensuring successful execution of commissioning plans, plant start up strategies, performance acceptance tests, and the smooth handover from construction to operations teams.
Key Responsibilities of the Commissioning Manager:
- Lead the execution of the commissioning plan, plant start up strategy, performance acceptance tests, and handover processes.
- Maintain site safety during project commissioning and ensure compliance with contracts, documentation, and quality standards.
- Oversee and report on project commissioning milestones and deliverables.
- Build positive relationships with site operations teams and contractors.
- Lead training for operational staff to ensure readiness and smooth system handover.
- Understand, review, and manage project plans, specifications, and manufacturer’s data for project execution.
- Provide integration support between key contracting scopes.
- Ensure contractors execute commissioning, start-up, and performance testing plans to meet quality and contractual commitments.
- Create and update standard operating procedures from hands-on installation and startup experiences.
- Work closely with engineering and operations staff to commission systems for controllability, reliability, and safety.
- Collaborate with the project management team on cost control, forecasting, invoicing, and financial management during commissioning.
- Document and participate in plant design revisions and continuous improvement for future projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications of the Commissioning Manager:
- 5 years of experience in construction, commissioning, and/or operations.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety laws and best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience in schedule execution, contract compliance, and change management.
- Advanced analytical skills for problem-solving, root cause analysis, and real-time solution generation.
- Excellent time management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel up to 70% of the time.
