Converse Consultants is looking for a Staff Geologist who independently evaluates, selects and applies standard Geology techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position or equivalent graduate level education.
Typical Duties
- Performs work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, geological surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
- Assignments usually include one or more of the following:
- field exploration including surface mapping and field exploration of subsurface borings and trenches,
- logging and sampling of borings and trenches,
- observation and field density testing during grading,
- field percolation testing,
- preparation of geologic maps and cross sections,
- evaluation of geologic hazards,
- field logging,
- research investigations,
- report preparation including drafting and writing,
- project management and other activities of limited scope.
Education/Registration Status/Professional Attainments
- Bachelor's Degree, plus appropriate continuing education
