Our client is a large, privately held firm in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They are an industry-leader in manufacturing residential and commercial products, looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team and make an immediate impact! The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for driving operational excellence through process improvements and factory automation.
This role will draw upon lean manufacturing experience to study production flow, complete value stream mapping, identify and implement 5S opportunities, reduce set-up and change-over times, and improve material pull systems; manage capital spend projects to implement automation and improve processes; analyze equipment downtime to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs; and create or improve manufacturing documentation for operator instructions and standard work.
Desired skills, education, and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing).
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing/process engineering, automation implementation, ergonomic optimization, and continuous improvement.
- High-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment preferred.
- CAPEX experience preferred.
- Project leadership experience.
- Ability to patiently train and mentor people, develop new leaders and create a culture of safety, collaboration/teamwork, accountability, and trust.
