Senior Procurement Specialist
Reports To: Materials Manager
Department: Supply Chain
6-month contract to potential direct hire.
Position Summary:
This Saginaw, Michigan based position will perform daily execution of assigned activities for the Procurement of all direct, indirect materials and services. Establish and execute Cost Reduction Improvements, Inventory Management, Supplier development and overall Procurement Process improvements.Development of data driven processes for Forecasting, Cost Definition, Procurement Planning enhancements supporting Internal Customers as well as New / Repeat Program / Quoting project management following the defined Standard Work defined by the Procurement Manager.Define, locate and qualify new Suppliers for the intent purpose of supporting new products and programs, improving costs, quality and delivery, as well as eliminating Supplier Risks in accordance with the company processes and policies. Robust communications with Procurement Manager and Internal / External Customers while achieving departmental efficiency with all customer and company defined requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Coordinate / Manage and support for all Planning, Sales, Customer Service, Quality and Production to ensure department requirements and needs are addressed
- Provide sourcing support to all required areas (i.e. Sales & Marketing, Engineering, etc.) as we develop new product and/or cost new contracts to ensure that we have appropriate parts and costs prior to launching a contract.
- Provide support and coaching to less experienced Procurement associates when needed to aid in their skillset and competency development and growth.
- Execution of Purchase Orders processing administration with Suppliers ensuring support of Suppliers
- Clear professional communication with all internal and external customers
- Development of clear project plans for driving Cost Reductions, Mitigating Supplier Risks, Effective Inventory Management, Supplier Quality Adherence, and defining a road map to Procurement Department Improvements
- Participate in all designated meetings assigned by the Material Manager
- Identify and execute continuous cost reductions for all goods Goods and Services
- Achieve identified Departmental Goals while implementing projects supporting the departmental defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Administration of daily departmental functions that support Goods and Services Ordering, Effective Planning, Kanban Management and control of purchased inventory levels
- Daily administration of Purchase Order Releases, Exception Messaging, Planned Orders and other systems requirements to support effective planning / inventory control
- Prepare required documents for all functions defined by the Company Site Quality Systems supporting the Quality Department
- Management / Development of all Suppliers with effective fair market negotiations in accordance with the company ethics policy
- Assist with sound decisions from Procurement to eliminate shortages with robust decision making, planning tools and Supplier development processes
- Administration of systems required data setting related to Procurement as directed by the Department Manager
- Support in strategic sourcing and supply management efforts for high visibility programs, projects, contracts, and/or critical commodities, as required. Taking a program management lead on these high visibility programs, leading the work to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time, optimizing the allocation of necessary inputs and apply them to meet pre-defined objectives
- Travel required as necessary
Qualifications:
- Due to ITAR requirements, must be a U.S. Person.
- Bachelor’s degree in business required
- CPM and / or CPIM preferred
- Strong background in Supplier Negotiations, Contracts / Agreements, Production Planning, Inventory Management and Supplier Developed required in a manufacturing environment
- Strong computer skills with all Microsoft Suite applications as well as SAP / Oracle systems
- Good organizational skills as well as strong project management skills deployment.
- Good oral and written communication skills along with Strong analytical problem solving abilities
- Minimum of 10 years of tactical and strategic purchasing experience in a domestic and global Procurement / Materials environment
