Electrical Engineer
Location: Detroit Metro area
Position Overview:
We are seeing an experienced Electrical Engineer for our client, a leading Systems Integrator providing automated solutions in the manufacturing, industrial, warehousing, airport, and automotive industries.As part of the Automated Vehicle Engineering group, you will play a key role in designing, validating, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems for AGVs and AMRs. Qualified candidates must be able to work onsite in the Detroit Metro area.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) according to requirements.
- Create design specifications, schematics, and component layouts for control and electrical systems.
- Ensure designs are completed within the allocated budget and scope.
- Create and maintain documentation for testing, as-built conditions, and system operations.
- Evaluate and select electrical components and ensure conformance with relevant standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA).
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to address technical challenges, risks, and design improvements.
- Provide remote troubleshooting support to customers and commissioning teams for AGV-related issues.
- Support the manufacturing process during the build and testing phases of AGVs.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of electrical design experience
- Ability to read and design electrical schematics and layouts
- AGV or AMR experience
- Remote and in-person electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical preferred
- Automation equipment design experience preferred (panels, power distribution, control devices, wire routing, etc.)
