Manages, trains, supervises and coordinates the work of housekeeping supervisors and housekeepers in the cleaning of patient rooms, offices, etc. Works with the Director of Environmental Services in the planning and directing of the cleaning program in order to maintain an attractive, sanitary, and orderly facility. Ensures department complies with established environmental standards.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
Full Time: 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Assists in development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and standards of work.
- Provides leadership and guidance to departmental staff.
- Assists the Environmental Services Director in developing the department's annual budget.
- Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the Environmental Services Department.
- Delivers strong operational performance by executing against Midland Memorial Hospital and regulatory agency standards and programs, continually monitoring operations and completing EVS quality assessments and necessary action plans to provide optimal environmental services.
- Makes recommendations to the Environmental Services Director for changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety and patient care or to reduce costs.
- Maintains good working relationships with other departments.
- Investigates, documents and reports all unusual occurrences to the Environmental Services Director.
- Monitors linen usage and reviews statistics with the Environmental Services Director.
- Represents and participates in committees and task forces as assigned by the Environmental Services Director.
- Assists the Environmental Services Director in completing performance evaluations.
- Assists the Environmental Services Director in meeting compliance with federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards.
- Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to staff and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
- Drives patient satisfaction and maintains client relationships through rounding at multiple locations.
- Tours and inspects the facility to ensure total quality management requirements in EVS management Coordinates the activities of EVS staff to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization of staff, materials, and equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- One to two years related experience and/or training.
- Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional certification preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations.
- Experience with budgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts.
- Proven successful people management experience within a professional environment as demonstrated through the exceeding of team and client goals and objectives and through specific team member development.
