Position: Fleet Manager and Class A or B CDL Driver
Location: Charlotte, NC
Job Summary:
Highland Bridge Services, a leading bridge utility contractor and bridge inspection equipment rental company, is seeking a versatile and experienced individual to fill the dual role of Fleet Manager and Class A or B CDL Driver at our Charlotte, NC location. This position requires a professional who can efficiently manage our fleet of vehicles while also performing driving duties as needed. The ideal candidate will ensure the safety, compliance, and optimal operation of our construction equipment fleet, while also handling transportation and operating responsibilities on projects around the USA.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Manager Duties:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and scheduling of company vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Monitor vehicle performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of vehicle inspections, maintenance, repairs and IFTA Fuel Reporting.
- Coordinate with suppliers and service providers for parts and repairs.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for vehicle use and maintenance.
- Manage the budget for fleet operations and maintenance.
- Train and supervise drivers and operators, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
Class A or B CDL Driver Duties:
- Safely operate company bridge access/inspection trucks, adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.
- Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites in a timely manner.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain and manage accurate logs of driving hours, fuel usage mileage, and delivery records.
- Assist with loading and unloading activities as needed.
- Communicate effectively with logistics and operations teams to coordinate deliveries.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record, DOT physical and current medical card.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management and commercial driving.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in using fleet management software and tools.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (50lbs+) as required.
- Diesel mechanic experience a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments on bridges.
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel to bridge projects throughout the United States and stay for extended periods of time.
- Ability to handle the physical demands of both fleet management and driving duties.
