Job Description: Maintenance Planner/Scheduler
Job Summary
The maintenance planning/scheduling function is the hub from which all planned maintenance activity is coordinated. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for scheduling preventive and regular maintenance with minimal interruption to production operations. In this capacity, the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Production and other supporting departments in relation to determining the timing for execution of planned maintenance work. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler works to ensure that Production units balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance practices.
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler manages the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and supports other staff in effectively and efficiently utilizing the CMMS
Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies and procedures.
The position requires an individual with strong organizational, analytical, technical and leadership skills; problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills, independent judgement skills, inter-personal and people management skills. The Maintenance Planner / Scheduler must possess the ability and skills to effectively provide direction, lead and work in a diverse team environment and communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical individuals.
The key challenges and responsibilities of the position:
Plan schedule and coordinate PM activities to production requirements.
Provide maintenance support for production and engineering activities to ensure optimum results.
Assure compliance of proper safety, quality and environmental requirements in work.
Manage all aspects of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Create and submit purchase orders, including resolution of purchase order variances with vendors
Assign part numbers, complete documentation, and all necessary computer operations necessary to accurately track and manage parts timely and accurately
Participate in stockroom layouts, set up cabinets and shelves, and arrange drawers to maximize space utilization and to provide room for future growth.
Physically receive deliveries, complete the computer receiving transactions and restock the shelves.
Conduct periodic inventory audits.
Organize equipment and develops procedures to ensure rapid retrieval of parts and inventory accuracy.
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree/certification(s) in technical and/or maintenance related discipline preferred.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years maintenance planner / scheduler experience.
Working knowledge of plant equipment and background in maintenance and repair of equipment in order to effectively plan daily maintenance department activities.
2-3 years SAP experience (purchase orders, parts, etc.)
2-3 years CMMS, preferred
Read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
Meet all basic plant employment criteria, to include a good attendance record.
Work Skills and Abilities
Must be able to identify and prioritize multiple projects and perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes.
Demonstrated capability to analyze and troubleshoot operational and equipment problems and provide reasonable and accurate recommendations and solutions.
Ability to read equipment operations manuals.
Ability to visually identify and recognize material, part, and product defects.
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals; ability to present complex situations in a concise manner.
Must have excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal relationship skills.
Must have strong project management skills.
Computer skills are a must with knowledge of CMMS, MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to build partnerships across and between functional groups.
Proven experience utilizing work management process to plan and schedule maintenance work.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms and internal communications platforms.
Must be able to work around food allergens
Must be able to regularly work around industrial equipment, including frequent ascending and descending of stairs and ladders, move about the plant and office, bending, kneeling, crouch or squat, twist, stooping and remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
Must be able to frequently move objects weighing up to 10 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
