Job description
Reid and Riege, P.C., a mid-sized Connecticut law firm with a well-established trusts and estates practice, seeks a self-motivated individual to assist in administering estates and trusts to join our downtown Hartford office.
Primary Duties:
- Assist with estate and trust administration tasks, including preparing probate documents such as asset inventories and accountings, preparation of Connecticut and Federal estate tax returns, gathering information for estate and trust income tax returns, and coordinating asset distributions.
- Communicate with clients regarding timing of estate and trust administration tasks, identify and obtaining information needed and respond to client requests consistently and efficiently.
- Coordinate with clients’ advisors and external vendors to gather necessary data and asset information, co-ordinate tax reporting data and open and close accounts as needed in a timely fashion.
- Collaborate with attorneys and other members of the trusts and estates practice group to ensure superior client services.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree, Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in financial services, such as a bank trust environment or an accounting firm, or as a paralegal in trust and estate administration (preferred).
- Proficiency in reading financial and brokerage reports.
- Strong quantitative skills and mathematically adept.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong PC skills including Word and Excel.
