About Us:
Our clients are a leading innovator in the development of advanced battery technologies for the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) industries. Our cutting-edge solutions are at the forefront of powering the next generation of aerial mobility. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated BMS (Battery Management System) Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the design and development of world-class battery systems.
Position Overview:
As a BMS Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development, testing, and optimization of our Battery Management Systems, ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our battery packs used in UAV and eVTOL applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to design BMS solutions that meet the stringent performance and safety standards required for advanced aerial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and validation of BMS hardware and software for battery systems in UAV and eVTOL applications.
- System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of BMS with battery modules, power electronics, and overall vehicle systems. Ensure compatibility with UAV and eVTOL platforms.
- Safety and Compliance: Develop and implement safety protocols and fail-safe mechanisms within the BMS to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure the BMS adheres to relevant safety certifications such as ISO 26262, DO-178C, and other applicable standards.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize the performance of BMS algorithms, including state of charge (SOC) estimation, state of health (SOH) monitoring, thermal management, and balancing strategies to maximize battery life and efficiency.
- Testing and Validation: Lead the testing and validation of BMS hardware and software, including HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulations, bench testing, and field trials. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure reliability and robustness.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyze data from battery systems to identify trends, diagnose issues, and recommend improvements. Generate detailed reports and provide insights to drive continuous improvement in BMS design.
- Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and external partners to source components, develop prototypes, and scale production of BMS solutions.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed design documentation, technical specifications, and user manuals for BMS systems. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in BMS design and development, particularly for high-performance applications such as UAVs, eVTOLs, automotive, or aerospace industries.
- Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery chemistry, battery management algorithms, and power electronics.
- Proficiency in BMS software development, including embedded systems programming, control algorithms, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Experience with simulation tools and environments such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, and experience with diagnostics and debugging tools.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements for battery systems in aerospace or automotive applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with UAV or eVTOL battery systems.
- Hands-on experience with HIL simulation and validation tools.
- Prior involvement in the full product development lifecycle, from concept through production.
