Security Project Manager
Location: On-site at Merchandise Mart, Chicago, IL, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Contract Duration: 3-month contract with the possibility of extension.
About the Company
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Project Manager to lead and manage IT projects focused on cybersecurity for a global leader in the spirits industry. This role requires a strong technical background and the ability to coordinate between business and technical teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management within the cybersecurity domain, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with stakeholders to achieve project objectives. This is a 3-month contract position with the possibility of extension, requiring on-site presence at Merchandise Mart, Chicago, IL, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Responsibilities
- Lead Cybersecurity Projects: Plan, initiate, and manage IT projects focused on cybersecurity, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and security best practices.
- Technical and Business Liaison: Serve as the primary bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, guiding the work of technical staff and ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
- Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, set clear goals, establish budgets, and define the necessary resources. Create schedules and methods to measure project progress and success.
- System Implementation: Coordinate and oversee the implementation of new systems and procedures, ensuring adherence to cybersecurity best practices.
- Documentation and Reporting: Manage information security documentation, including monthly metrics, leadership status updates, SOWs, contracts, MSAs, and project data within ServiceNow.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams such as PMO, legal, finance, communications, and other cross-functional technical teams to achieve Information Security program objectives.
- Vendor Management: Onboard and offboard information security vendors and service providers, and support the evaluation of new security solutions through POC and POV processes.
- Support Program Management: Assist the program management team in managing deadlines, budgets, and activities for information security projects and related tasks.
- Procurement and Budgeting: Create purchase orders and manage goods receipts within the SAP system, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders and business leaders to understand their needs, translating them into actionable technical requirements.
- Project Monitoring: Track project progress, develop detailed plans to achieve goals, and oversee the integration of technical activities.
- Communication: Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Cybersecurity Evaluation: Continuously assess the organization’s cybersecurity posture and recommend improvements as needed.
- Additional Tasks: Perform any other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Certifications: PMP or Prince2 certification is required; advanced certifications like CISM or CEH are a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of project management experience, specifically within IT and cybersecurity domains.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities, with excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex security topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Information Security Knowledge: In-depth understanding of information security program objectives and contract management (SOW, MSA).
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with strong documentation and communication skills.
- Budget Management: Experience in operations budgeting, cost classification, procurement processes, and invoicing.
