Our client, a large professional services company that specializes in architecture, engineering, construction management, and planning is looking for an Application Packager to add to the team. The position is Contract to Hire. They are hybrid - 3 days onsite in either NYC, Newark, NJ, Philadelphia, or Douglassville, PA.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Application Packager with expertise in PowerShell scripting to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying software packages, ensuring seamless installation and configuration across our enterprise environment. You will leverage your PowerShell skills to automate packaging processes and improve efficiency in software delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Packaging: Develop, test, and deploy application packages using industry-standard tools and methods, including but not limited to Microsoft App-V, InstallShield, and MSI packaging.
- PowerShell Scripting: Create and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate software deployment, configuration, and system management tasks.
- Package Management: Manage software updates, patches, and configuration changes to ensure applications are up-to-date and compliant with organizational standards.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation for each software package, including installation guides, configuration settings, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Perform thorough testing of application packages to verify compatibility, functionality, and performance across various environments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and support staff, to address and resolve software-related issues.
- Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for software deployment and packaging issues, as needed.
- Compliance: Ensure all packaged applications adhere to security and compliance standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in application packaging and deployment with a strong understanding of Windows operating systems.
- PowerShell Proficiency: Advanced skills in PowerShell scripting for automating tasks related to software packaging and deployment.
- Packaging Tools: Familiarity with packaging tools such as Microsoft App-V, InstallShield, AdminStudio, or similar.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of MSI technology, software deployment methods, and scripting languages.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation and effectively collaborate with team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in software packaging, PowerShell, or IT infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, CompTIA A+).
- Experience: Previous experience in a large enterprise environment with complex IT systems.
