Optomi, in partnership with our high-end client, are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of IT Operations onsite/hybrid in Chicago or Atlanta.

Role Overview:
The Director of IT Operations is responsible for overseeing the IT Systems Infrastructure and enterprise Helpdesk teams to ensure the optimal performance, security, and scalability of our IT systems. This role involves planning, designing, and managing the strategy, architecture, policies, and standards for IT systems infrastructure and operations. Key responsibilities include managing cloud migration and integrating cloud services with existing IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide the IT Systems Infrastructure and Helpdesk teams, ensuring high performance and security of IT systems.
- Develop and implement the IT systems infrastructure and operations strategy, including architecture, policies, and standards.
- Oversee the transition of workloads to the cloud and integration with current IT systems.
- Work closely with IT leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, and external partners to align IT infrastructure with business goals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and solutions.
- Manage vendor relationships effectively.
Travel: 10-15%
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years in IT systems infrastructure and operations management.
- Proficiency in cloud computing, on-premises systems, virtualization, and related technologies. Extensive experience with the Microsoft ecosystem is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with Exchange/email, Windows 10/11, M365, Active Directory/Entra ID, Azure Cloud, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, and Defender. Knowledge of Group Policy management is a plus.
- Experience with VMware vSphere.
- At least 5 years of experience in strategic roles involving budgeting and staffing.
- Proven experience in migrating workloads to the cloud and integrating with existing infrastructure.
- Ability to manage and transition legacy systems to new tools.
- Experience in developing and executing staffing plans for optimal role alignment and employee engagement.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
