Senior Manager, HRIS (Workday HCM)
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $166,400 - $187,200 per year
Location: San Mateo County, CA - Remote Role
Job Summary:
As a Senior HRIS Manager, you will support the design, build, implementation, and management of our Workday HCM suite. You will leverage your hands-on expertise, in-depth configuration knowledge of multiple Workday Core HCM modules, and input from team members to design an optimal system that aligns with our mission and core values. This role will require you to think strategically while also taking a hands-on approach, drawing on your in-depth knowledge and proven experience in high-growth, fast-paced organizations. As a subject matter expert within our HR team, you will collaborate with and learn from a diverse group of highly experienced HR professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze, develop, configure, and optimize Workday HCM processes to meet our organizational needs. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across multiple Workday functional areas.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and present scalable HRIS solutions that support the evolving business needs of our fast-growing organization.
- Educate our HR teams and cross-functional partners on the system, including core HCM modules, R1 and R2 releases, and future enhancements.
- Lead associated deployment activities, including regression testing, downstream impact analysis, and overall system performance and stability assurance.
- Design and configure security roles and groups, permissions, and data access policies within the Workday system, ensuring appropriate data security and segmentation.
- Serve as a strong consultative partner to HR and cross-functional team members, including supporting the development of materials for managers and employees on using the Workday Core HCM module effectively while providing ongoing support to address system-related inquiries and issues.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Information Technology, Statistics, Business Administration, related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 4-6+ years of experience in Workday HRIS administration. Strong configuration knowledge of Core Workday modules, including Human Capital Management (HCM), Compensation, Benefits, and Security Groups. Additional Workday functional area experience in advanced Workday modules, including Advanced Compensation and Workday Studio, is highly desirable.
- Proactive, able to work independently, and prioritize effectively with competing priorities across multiple tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build cross-functional relationships
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and support multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Workday HCM and Security Certified with solid experience in a lead role; additional Workday certifications are a plus
- Advanced Compensation (Annual Merit, Equity & Bonus cycles) experience is a plus.
- Experience as a functional lead on a full life-cycle implementation of the Core HR module for Workday HCM is a plus.
- Experience improving and identifying issues in processes and models, suggesting user-focused improvements, and navigating/influencing cross-functional teams to drive these changes.
- Experience working in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields is a plus.
