Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated person with extensive experience in winning and leading energy projects that include energy/carbon cost savings calculations, energy modeling, utility and government rebates, energy audits, retro-commissioning, and commissioning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the business development in energy, sustainability and resiliency markets, and leading the team that will be conducting energy audits, performing detailed energy calculations, and leading retro-commissioning projects to optimize the energy performance or reduce Scope 1 carbon emissions of our clients' facilities. This role requires a strong client and business development background, in addition to excellent technical and analytical skills, and a passion for energy efficiency, resiliency, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Energy Projects (including Energy Roadmaps, Energy Audits and Assessments, Carbon Studies, and Retro-Commissioning projects):
- Responsible for customer relationships and business development management, as well as providing organization, leadership, communication, and financial and risk management input for projects.
- Lead and support staff and Hanson leadership in advocating for energy, sustainability, and resiliency through engagement and communication.
- Responsible for developing and driving energy initiatives across multiple markets within the organization.
- Subject matter expert (SME) for the energy demand reduction and decarbonization efforts on various projects.
- Keep abreast of changes in regulations and technologies in the energy industries. Evaluate and apply innovative technologies to support site objectives and meet compliance for changes in regulations.
- Lead meetings and create presentations for internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Work with the Hanson Project Manager to keep the project on track for schedule and budget and assist them with the billing and earned value process.
- Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously as a Hanson Task Manager while maintaining timely completion within budget constraints.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors to execute energy projects.
- Track pursuits and project progress and provide regular updates to clients and senior management.
Technical Support and Training:
- Provide technical support to clients and internal teams on energy efficiency best practices and technologies.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate clients and staff on energy management strategies.
- Author articles or make presentations at technical conferences.
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum 10 years’ of demonstrated program or project management experience in compliance driven operations developing long term strategies, developing, and growing various programs and initiatives within organizations with a focus on energy demand reduction, energy sustainability and/or decarbonization projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy management, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer license or be able to reciprocate a license from another state within 6 months.
- Excellent planning, organizing, analysis, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated business acumen, understanding of business needs, risks, and regulatory implications in the development/assessment of design alternatives.
- Understanding of the broader market potential and technological direction related to energy, sustainability, and resilience.
- Understanding of the broader energy transition market including wind, solar, microgrids, etc.
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, organized, and able to prioritize tasks to meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to use discretion with sensitive/confidential information.
Preferred
- Professional certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), Energy Management Professional (EMP), Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP), CCP (Certified Commissioning Professional), or LEED AP are highly desirable.
- Experience with navigating through various Building Management System (BMS) platforms, including their Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), block diagrams, and other programming logic is preferred.
