Job Summary
Our manufacturing client is on the hunt for a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineer II-Industrial Refrigeration expert to spearhead their engineering team and drive the successful completion of projects. Responsibilities
• Hire and ensure training for all engineering employees as needed
• Organize, direct, and oversee the schedules and work of employees
• Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
• Mentor, train, and coach direct reports to increase competency and job satisfaction
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures, as well as ISO 9001 standard operating procedures related to the department
• Partner with HR for discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
• Manage day-to-day activities of engineering groups in Katy, TX, and remote employees
• Provide leadership and vision to the engineering teams
• Review and approve mechanical, electrical, and control designs as needed
• Develop and maintain industry relationships, anticipating customer needs and proactively presenting engineering solutions
• Develop department efficiency goals to reduce costs and increase productivity
• Represent the company at various industry-wide events
• Coordinate efforts across the company, manufacturers reps, contractors, and customers to develop superior products and propose solutions to problems
• Aid in the design and development of equipment and systems, and redesign existing systems to support the efforts of the engineering teams as necessary
• Travel as necessary to customers or suppliers to assist in technical analysis
• Generate creative solutions for improving or solving operational issues in the organization
• Collaborate with other managers and leadership to set and assess priorities across teams
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining industrial refrigeration systems
• Thorough understanding of mechanical, industrial, controls, and electrical engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required
• 10 years of experience in the industrial refrigeration or compressed gas compressor market
• At least five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (preferred Epicor background)
• Proficient in Allen Bradley Programming Software (ControlLogix, CompactLogix)
• Knowledge of AUTOCAD mechanical and electrical
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare budgets and records
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
