Job Title: Senior Accountant
Reports to: Vice President and General Manager – North America
Classification: Exempt
Summary:
This position applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. This is an exempt position with high accountability for corporate image, integrity, and results, which at times may mean extraordinary effort, travel and/or working timeframes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each of the primary duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Oversees all aspects of accounting including general ledger accounts, financial reporting, month-end close, tax returns. Also produces financial statements and analysis.
- Analyzes revenue and expenditure trends and make recommendations.
- Manages cash flow.
- Preparation of annual budgets and information pertaining to annual financial audit.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, corporate, and other tax laws.
- Supervises the Accounting Department functions.
- Assesses current accounting practices and procedures and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports financial data to headquarters in a timely manner.
- Prepares and periodically audits budget comparison to actual budget and informs management of results.
- Forecasts and plans according to fiscal needs.
- Performs ad hoc analyses and projects, as required.
- General Accounting Department office management.
Qualifications / Education / Skills and Experience
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business management with a minimum of (5) years of experience in Accounting.
- CPA preferred.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy in difficult situations.
- Knowledge of finance, Accounting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of Accounting software packages, SAP experience required.
- Ability to analyze financial data to prepare financial reports and make recommendations.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
