An impactful nonprofit organization is seeking a Hospital Patient Advocate to provide a range of case-based services to individuals and/or families who need services from our client that operates a medication assistance program during hospital admission. Provides education, instruction, and advocacy support to individual and/or families.
Responsibilities:
- Interviews individuals/families to analyze and assess the nature and degree of need.
- Researches, investigates, and determines internal and external services available to individuals/families.
- Works as a team member with hospital care teams in matching families with needed services through our client.
- Guides, instructs, and serves as an advocate to individuals/families on procedures, paperwork, and techniques for securing relevant information and appropriate assistance to determine eligibility for our client’s program.
- Develops and delivers presentations to other constituencies regarding the needs of individuals/families and methods of accessing services.
- Maintains current knowledge of the program eligibility and application process, current formulary, and qualifications needed for patient approval of our client's Medication Assistance Program.
- Responsible for the administrative and operational tasks associated with generating referrals, completing, and submitting applications for processing and approval within the “fast-tracked” guidelines and agreements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Valid SC driver’s license, good driving record, reliable vehicle, and insurance coverage required.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills

- Confident and effective presentation and public speaking skills
- Ability to self-manage including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work.
- Computer proficiency, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Work Environment: Work is performed in an operational office environment within a hospital setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Position Type: This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Some flexibility in hours is allowed and must be agreed upon with the Director of Patient Services.
