Principal Systems Engineer
Location: Dulles, VA (Hybrid)
Job Description :
Serve as a Systems Engineer on a mission critical development and sustainment program
Assess, design, and develop automated cloud-based requirements and architectures
Develop requirements and System Engineering (SE) artifacts
Provide SE expertise and project leadership for a large cybersecurity system
Coordinate teams in the dev., int., and testing of advanced leading-edge cybersecurity
Interface directly with the Customer, stakeholders, and end-users regarding:
Priorities, capability architectures, requirements, use cases, and stories to derive
Develop and decompose next-cycle updates and specifications
Represent the voice of the user in development
Collaborate within Agile Release Trains and Agile Teams
Support risk assessments and developing risk mitigation countermeasures
Qualifications :
Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
10+ years of directly relevant systems engineering experience
Allocation of hardware and software requirements
Development of use cases and stories
Detailed design of system components
Direct automation / orchestration experience with larger systems
6+ years direct experience with Google cloud deployment and management tools
Proven leadership skills and meaningful experience successfully leading large teams
Experience working in an Agile development environment in a leadership role
Possesses knowledge of Gov. Information Security policies, regulations, and guidelines
Expertise in automation of infrastructure - deployment, configuration, and orchestration
Experience with scripting in JSON, YAML, HCL, Python, and/or bash/PSH
Experience with scripting in CloudFormation/ Terraform
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Comp. Science, Information Systems
Or related technical field
2 years of related work exp. may be sub. for each year of degree level education
Desired Skills :
Experience leading teams and projects at either the tech lead or product owner level
Familiarity with Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Git, Ansible, Chef, AWS lambda, or terraform
Familiarity with cloud native tools like cloudformation
Programming experience (Java, Javascript, .Net, Python, or Ruby)
Fam. with using, updating, and programmatically manipulating Linux and Windows
Experience with NTP, DNS, Networking, LDAP, or Software repositories
Experience with branching and release strategies, CI/CD Pipelines
AWS cloud technology knowledge and implementation experience
Experience designing and implementing event driven microservice architectures
Experience in technical oversight of individuals and projects
Experience working in DevOps and/or DevSecOps environments
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) knowledge and experience
Desired Certifications:
Agile software development methodology certification (e.g. SAFe Practitioner or higher)
Google Cloud Certification
DoD 8570.1 IAT Level I or II (e.g. CISSP)
Active DoD Secret Clearance
