JOB SUMMARY:
The Group Copy Supervisor (GCS) manages all aspects of copy on a sizeable amount of business including multiple brands and a team of copywriters. Responsible for ideating new campaigns and innovative tactics, overseeing creative execution, and finding strategic brand solutions. The GCS partners closely with cross-functional brand team(s) to ensure the integrity of the creative work is maintained. The GCS is responsible for the supervision and career development of copy team members; seen as a champion of the creative and providing significant support to creative leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Copywriting and Creative Execution
Responsible for all aspects of copy across brand(s) with the ability to find harmony between client objective and agency creative vision.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partners closely with cross-functional team members in a productive manner to attain/maintain creative vision outlined for the brands and agency.
Strategic Thinking
Maintains knowledge and displays deep understanding of marketing plans including objectives, strategies, and how success will be measured.
Client Management
Presents creative work regularly to internal teams and clients, leads discussions to uplevel the work, based on intimate knowledge of the data, the market, and the brand strategy.
Talent Management
The GCS supervises copywriters or freelancers, evaluates work, gives constructive feedback to prompt full copy potential, and works independently.
Administration
Maintains timely, detail-oriented, and accurate approaches to administrative duties.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Copywriting and Creative Execution
- Oversees and contributes to copy content for assigned projects that is on strategy and in language that is original, compelling, distinctive, and synergistic with art/graphic.
- Guides the creation of language that is compelling for varied audiences across a variety of mediums while staying true to the established brand tone.
- Provides art direction guidance as it relates to the concept.
- Develops new, bold creative ideas to support brand(s) goals while managing the day-to-day copy needs of team.
- Takes an active role in agency/client review and routing systems; revises agency copies, identifies problems or inconsistencies, solves problems by reviewing with supervisor/account services.
- Demonstrates consistency in effectiveness and delivery of job expectations across multiple projects and brand.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Maintains and strengthens positive relationships with various agency departments including Editorial, Account, Strategy, and Project Management.
- Communicates consistently and effectively with team members regarding deadlines, revisions, quality control and new work.
- Partners closely with Art partner and team to contribute and execute creative approaches to communicate brand personality and messages for both the overall campaign and individual materials.
- Proactively approaches leadership with new ideas and suggestions for personal career growth and team dynamics.
Strategic Thinking
- Champions of the client’s marketplace, competition, marketing objectives and strategies.
- Meaningfully and proactively creates innovative ideas appropriate to the clients marketing strategy, and audience needs.
- Active participant in strategic and tactical brainstorming meetings.
- Fully understands the creative brief and the role it plays in creative evolution, taking into consideration client feedback.
Client Management
- Maintains and strengthens solid client relationships and trust through clear and authoritative presentations, thorough understanding of brand data, language nuance, and strategic direction.
Talent Management
- Proactively communicates with all team members in a productive manner to ensure creative vision is maintained and deadlines are met.
- Manages, mentors, and inspires copy team, delegates incoming tasks and assignments as appropriate.
- Responsible for hiring, staffing, and full life-cycle talent management (eg, delivering feedback, annual reviews, general and performance management).
Administration
- Ensures accurate and timely reporting of timesheets for self and copy team.
- Contributes to resourcing and scoping conversations.
EDUCATION:
DEGREE/DIPLOMA AREA OF STUDY REQUIRED/PREFERRED
Bachelor's
Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field - Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AREA OF EXPERTISE REQUIRED
2-6 years
Advertising/Marketing experience - Preferred
Exposure to Pharmaceutical Advertising - Preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) or equivalent programs
Familiarity with Adobe Suite (Acrobat, Indesign).
- Proficient in social media and digital best practices.
- Knowledge of healthcare copywriting—AMA style, health literacy, referencing and factchecking, prepping for medical/legal/regulatory submissions (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
