Job Summary:
Provides technical and administrative leadership to the Clinical Engineering Staff. Assumes the responsibilities of the Director in his absence. Assists the Director with the day-to-day operation of the department.

Job Description:
Manages Clinical Engineering programs to support biomedical and imaging equipment used at all medical center locations.
- Develops detailed periodic maintenance testing procedures.
- Manages the periodic maintenance schedules in specific areas and monitors completion rates.
- Ensures proper completion of corrective maintenance service issues
- Evaluates and recommends replacement of medical equipment.
- Coordinates medical equipment installations.
- Provides the director with periodic reports highlighting major area issues
- Assists in the preparation for and successful completion of TJC/EOC inspections.
- Assists in evaluating service contracts.
- Assists in managing department budget.
- Research and prepare budget proposals.
- Monitor department expenditures to meet budget targets.
- Encourage resourceful use of approved funds to execute projects.
- Assists in identifying annual and long term resources needed.
Manage and coach a subordinate group.
- Develop, promote and maintain professional relationships, both internally and externally.
- Train, develop and coach, counsel, assign duties and work schedules.
- Evaluate job performance and review performance appraisal with personnel. Initiate or recommend necessary counseling, disciplinary actions, termination and commendatory actions.
- Design/implement efficient services, propose revenue enhancements, monitor expenses, benchmark, encourage service excellence and provide effective communications.
- Delegate and check daily assignments. Prioritize and delegate tasks and projects within the department.
Performs corrective maintenance, periodic maintenance testing, electrical and mechanical testing on therapeutic and diagnostic imaging equipment resulting in high equipment availability and reliability.
Participates in cross functional teams through-out the medical center addressing a wide number of concerns resulting in greater exposure to the entire medical center process.
Provides in-service education to end users resulting in decrease user errors and service calls.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Bachelor's degree in electronics, engineering or technological related field required.
Specialized Knowledge:
Knowledge of medical equipment asset management programs.
Comprehensive understanding of process, technical design, and quality objectives.
Knowledge in advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.
Strong in building and maintaining successful and effective working relationships with direct reports, management peers and other colleagues.
Extensive technical knowledge of biomedical and medical imaging service.
Kind and Length of Experience:
3 years of leadership experience or supervisory equivalent.
