As a member of the Agency and Broker relations team, this Growth and Insights Director will play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s collection of specialty insurance businesses, expand in their respective markets, and explore, size and vet new opportunities. This individual will be instrumental in the company’s continued outperformance as a trusted resource for market information, as well as a key contact for strategic trading partners navigating Great American’s specialty operations.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and business units, providing strategic insights and recommendations to drive organic growth.
- Learn and master strategies and appetite of all Great American’s specialty businesses.
- Learn and master structures of key trading partners, monitoring trends and changes in their operations and strategies.
- Facilitate strategy planning sessions, focused on long term growth (“Where to Play”) and consult on improving sales effectiveness (submission rate, hit rate, etc.) with various business unit marketing and sales teams.
- Develop strategies for growth opportunities with multiple divisions, identifying opportunities to grow share within key distribution sources.
- Facilitate cross-divisional opportunities, maximizing premium opportunities from submission volume.
- Communicate with agents and brokers to identify new business opportunities within our specialty divisions.
- Develops analyses of business, industry, and market trends and societal and customer/agent behavior.
- Analyzes strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that may affect market opportunities for the various specialty businesses.
- Identifies new strategies, business opportunities, and technologies that may lead to innovation in the organization.
- Job leveling is flexible based upon qualifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Prior experience in insurance distribution and familiarity with agents and brokers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strength in framing / storytelling related to insights gleaned and opportunities.
- Passion for information and developing insights
- Ability to develop tactical and long-term plans/strategy.
- Strong organizational capabilities, working multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Critical thinking and intuition for the next best action.
- Analytical expertise to review larger data sets.
- Experience with building presentations, including charts.
- An understanding and appreciation for Great American’s differentiated strategy as a specialty insurance group of companies.
