MUST:
- 4+ years minimum experience as an employee benefits compliance analyst/specialist
- Has worked for one of these: working for an insurance broker or insurance company, claims administration (also called TPA), or for an employer that has 1000+ lives who is doing benefits and compliance as their full time job
- Strong experience with employee benefits compliance
- Experience drafting documents for employee benefits compliance
- Experience with Research on compliance, experience answering questions on compliance issues, understand how compliance works
- Knowledge of laws and concepts to do with: HIPPA, cobra, Erisa, Affordable care act
- Strong with Microsoft word and excel – creating/revising/mail merge of documents
- Good communication/comfortable talking with others/good customer service
- Very detail oriented and knows how to stay very organized.

- Training experience on HIPPA (may be asked to train brokers and their clients on topics like hippa)

DAY TO DAY:
Our client, a fast growing and exciting employee benefits insurance company is seeking a Compliance Specialist to join their team as a full time employee. You will join a team reporting into SVP of compliance for this large employee benefits firm. You will be on a compliance team. This role will focus on aspects such as: drafting documents, answering compliance related questions, attending client meetings, taking calls and inquiries from clients on employee benefit compliance related matters. This person may also be asked to help with trainings for clients on things like HIPPA and other compliance topic. An example of an issue that a client may come to you with would be: the client gives you a situation and asks if they are in compliance. You will advise them on how handle the compliance situation, are we required to do xyz. It is important to note that this team doesn’t give legal advice, but they can recommend an attorney. It is the Specialists job to either know the answer or look it up, and you will have access to research database to look up answers. This person should be good at writing and making information concise and clear and the ability to explain complicated situations and laws.
More specifically this role will:
- Document Drafting and Review
- Assist with preparation of plan documents and policies, including wrap plan documents, leave of absence policies, eligibility policies, handbooks and cafeteria plan documents.
- Review clients’ existing documents and provide feedback through written communication or conference call.
- Draft reports for clients including Mental Health Parity NQTL Analysis, Compliance Reviews, and other compliance reports.
- Regulatory Filings
- Along with Manager of Compliance Services, responsible for regulatory filings for clients including RxDC, Gag Clause, CMS Creditable Coverage, ACA, 5500 Filings and other related filings.
- Communications
- Draft professional white papers, newsletters, and other client communications related to compliance topics
- Manage client communication process including oversight of distribution database on library of materials
