ERSG is currently looking for a Low Voltage (LV) Electrical Engineer for a large offshore wind developer, who has multiple projects already confirmed along the east coast. It will be in downtown Boston, MA on a hybrid basis.
Things to keep in mind:
• This is initially a 1–2-year contract with the likelihood of staying on longer-term or to
become a direct employee.
• You can become eligible for health, visual, and dental insurance after 30 days of
employment and 401K with a 4% match after 12 months of employment.
• We are looking ideally for individuals commutable or open to relocating to the Boston, MA, however there is a remote option for folks located outside of the Greater Boston Area

Job Summary
• The LV Electrical Engineer is a critical role within the Offshore Renewables Business,
focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects in the US.
• Belonging to the Project Services Direction and reporting to the Electrical Systems
Team Leader, the LV Electrical Engineer will be responsible for implementing robust
and cost-effective engineering strategies, plans, specifications, tendering,
negotiating and managing offshore design, supply and installation contracts,
planning and implementing delivery sites and logistics, complying with company
and business engineering standards and technical acceptance criteria, and
ensuring quality, best practices and excellent Health, Safety and Environmental
performance are applied.
Responsibilities include:
• Ensure Health and Safety policies are adhered to in all matters.
• Provide expert advice on LV electrical systems, to ensure that cost effective technical
solutions are identified, fully evaluated and the technical risks are fully understood
by the project/business.
• Support the front-end engineering design of all relevant project packages to ensure
that LV systems comply with business procedures and specifications.
• Prepare contract specifications for LV systems ensuring they comply with project
and business requirements, country specific codes of practice, laws, regulations,
and standards.
• Review detailed design documentation and drawings to ensure compliance with
contract specifications and legal requirements.
• Lead the quality audit of electrical installations while onshore in fabrication yards
and factories to ensure compliance with contract specifications and legal
requirements.
• Ensure that all assessment, advice, and recommendations are fully documented in
accordance with all internal procedures and industry best practice, and that
sufficient technical and commercial due diligence (whether internal or external)
exists to support those business decisions.
• Manage the certification process with independent verification bodies (where
applicable) to reduce design risk and enhance asset value.
• Review of documents, drawings and data submitted by Contractors to ensure
compliance with contract and project requirements.
• Ensure that health, safety, and environmental requirements are fully considered and
adhered to in design to ensure compliance with legislation and industry best
practice.
• Manage the inspection and testing of appropriate aspects of offshore plant to
ensure that assets are supplied and installed to the required quality and
engineering standards.
• Maintain full awareness of the latest technical and commercial developments and
identify suitable new technology that has the potential to reduce cost and risk or
improve safety.
• Implement offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices, and quality
requirements for key work packages to ensure that packages are delivered
according to specification, budget, and program without compromising safety.
• Ensure that appropriate lessons learnt regarding offshore wind farm development
and construction are captured and shared across the different Offshore Project work
packages. Collaborate with the line manager to ensure that the engineering team
implements them to enhance business value.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
• Extensive knowledge and experience in auxiliary & LV electrical equipment and
cables related to onshore and offshore EHV/HV electrical substations and wind
turbines.
• Extensive experience in the engineering, procurement, and construction or
operation of LV electrical systems including:
• Auxiliary transformers o Auxiliary generators including UPS and 48/110V Battery
Systems. o HV, MV and LV Power cables, including containment design.
• LV control cables o LV Switchgear: Switchboards and auxiliaries o LV small power
and general/emergency lighting design
• Lightning protection
• Automatic Fire Detection Systems
• ITS communications systems horizontal cabling o Security detection systems o
LV protection design including discrimination studies.
• Extensive experience designing and working in the power generation,
renewables, transmission, or distribution networks sector.
• Previous use of industry software such as Amtech Pro Design/Dialux/Hevacomp
to validate submitted contractor outputs.
