Lead Electrical Start-up Technician

Position Summary:
The Lead Electrical Start-up Technician is responsible for overseeing the checkout, commissioning, and successful startup of all plant electrical systems. This role acts as the primary point of contact for ensuring the ongoing operation and commissioning of electrical systems within the plant or project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing startup packages and track all documentation for their maintenance.
- Coordinate the creation of procedures to meet contractual requirements and guide the startup process.
- Participate in advanced planning for startup activities, ensuring preparation for major milestones.
- Verify that electrical systems and loads are installed and operational according to design specifications.
- Perform functional testing of systems, including Generator, AVR, and Synchronization equipment.
- Conduct complex relay testing and oversee the testing of electrical equipment.
- Verify electrical interlock systems and conduct system functional testing from DCS.
- Perform field engineering changes and record as-built modifications on drawings.
- Supervise I&C/E Technician activities in collaboration with the Construction Foreman.
- Manage system progress tracking, reporting, and documentation for plant turnover.
- Conduct switching operations of High and Medium voltage switchgear.
- Support plant operations, ensuring smooth system functionality.
- Use various electrical programs for equipment (Multilin, PLCs, Relays, etc.).
- Take responsibility for safety and environmental compliance.
- Demonstrate safety leadership by promoting an Incident-Free workplace through personal actions and by coaching others.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of site commissioning and startup experience in industries such as Power Generation, Chemical Processing, or Petrochemical.
- Previous experience as a Start-up Electrical Technician or similar roles preferred. Experience in both new projects and revamp work is an advantage.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proficient in startup testing techniques for electrical disciplines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, procedures, contracts, and subcontracts.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with Managers, Engineers, Subcontractors, and the site Start-up team.
- Problem-solving skills aligned with Project technical requirements.
- Ability to interpret instructions in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Exposure to new and existing construction and industrial sites with potential physical hazards.
- May encounter extreme temperatures, heavy equipment traffic, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, chemicals, and loud noise.
- Must comply with safety requirements and use personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work 100% of the time on Project Sites from mobilization until completion, with potential travel to various facilities.
