The Jersey Shore site currently has an exciting opportunity for an EHS (Environmental, Health, & Safety) Manager to provide technical leadership and direct the environmental, industrial hygiene and safety (EHS) activities at the site. This role will also encompass Facilities Buildings & Grounds responsibilities. The focus would be 80% on the EH&S portion with 20% dedicated to Facilities Management. The Jersey Shore site is a key manufacturing facility of medical devices and components serving a variety of customers in the medical device industry.
The successful candidate will supervise provide technical leadership on safety, industrial hygiene and environmental management and work closely with the site Leadership Team, DuPont Health Services, EHS leaders from nearby site locations and Business EHS leaders. The EHS Manager will ensure that programs meet corporate governance and regulatory needs of the facility.
EH&S Core Responsibilities (80%):
- Serve as EHS representative on the management team for the site.
- Manage all site permits to ensure continuous license to operate.
- Manage submittal of all permit and regulatory required agency reports.
- Analyze and evaluate EH&S performance across the sites and develop strategic improvement plans and goals to integrate improvements into business operations.
- Manage the site EHS, contracted emergency services and contracted security services programs, and work to integrate these programs into business operations.
- Provide EHS guidance to the site to drive a Commitment to Zero safety culture
- Lead integration and compliance projects to ensure compliance with local, state, and company standards and industry best practices.
- Network with other DuPont EHS professionals, trade and professional associations as well as businesses, sites, and other functions on tools and approaches for EHS compliance and be effective in shaping policy, best practices and standards for the sites.
- Oversee the site industrial hygiene programs including occupational monitoring.
- Develop internal audit plans (1st Party EHS Audits), review performance, and feedback gaps to management to drive continual EHS improvement.
- Support injury and illness recordkeeping and case management process; maintain relevant logs and documentation.
- Participate in field auditing and visibility for interactions with employees.
- Provide supervisory guidance and development to all EHS resources to ensure technical/functional and operating skills are current and effective.
- Serve as site EHS Steering Team Leader
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Facilities, Buildings & Grounds Responsibilities (20%):
- Responsible for overall facility upkeep – 24 hour/7 days a week on-call.
- Manage all buildings-related and janitorial contracts.
- Supervise work crews, internal and external, on jobs as they relate to Buildings & Grounds work
- Monitors the work of all repairmen to ensure that quality work is completed and that all safety precautions and procedures are observed. Reviews Contractor Safety Checklist with all workers prior to the start of work.
- Requests and reviews quotes for work and or services and supervises construction and facilities-related activities
- Coordinates response to fires and other emergency situations until fire department or rescue teams arrive. Schedules bi-annual evacuation drills
Qualifications:
- Candidate must be a United States citizen.
- BS in a basic science or technical degree in the field of EHS management, or relevant work experience in EH&S is required.
- At least 8-10 years of site operations-related experience is required for this position, manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Experience and working knowledge of U.S. and State of New Jersey occupational health, safety and environmental regulations is preferred.
- Strong leadership, people management and development skills in an industrial environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines as well as manage change and work independently.
- Networking, influence, and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to utilize computer software (systems used are Microsoft Office, intra/internet, etc.) including helping to implement the Cority industrial hygiene software system and/or ETQ Reliance at a site.
- Ability to Travel <10% (training, network meetings, participation in auditing)
