The mission of Onward We Learn is to prepare and inspire young people in Rhode Island to become the first in their families to attend and complete college. Position Purpose
The Recruitment Coordinator at Onward We Learn plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Recruitment and Admissions in the strategic and operational aspects of recruiting middle school students into the college access and success program. This role is essential in managing the admissions lifecycle, from initial outreach to enrollment, ensuring processes are efficient and effective. By assisting in relationship building with school personnel, families, and students, and supporting data-driven recruitment strategies, the Recruitment Coordinator helps enhance the visibility and impact of Onward We Learn, aligning efforts with the organization's mission to support first-generation college students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Job Responsibilities
Recruitment and Outreach Support
- Assist in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract and enroll eligible students and families, emphasizing inclusivity and accessibility.
- Support the creation and distribution of recruitment materials and campaigns in collaboration with the Director of Communications and External Affairs.
- Represent Onward We Learn at school and community events, providing information and encouraging enrollment.
- Manage the distribution and inventory of marketing and recruitment materials to ensure Middle School Advisors and other staff have the necessary resources.
Admission Support
- Provide administrative support for all recruitment and admissions-related activities, including data entry, tracking application statuses, and responding to inquiries.
- Assist in organizing admissions events, such as information sessions and application workshops, to facilitate student enrollment.
- Support the training of Middle School Advisors on admissions protocols and processes, ensuring alignment with updated procedures.
- Participate in the annual review of the admissions process, suggesting improvements based on observed challenges and opportunities.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of recruitment and admissions activities, ensuring timely data entry and compliance with data privacy policies.
- Assist in analyzing recruitment data to inform strategic decisions and identify areas for process improvement.
- Provide regular updates on application statuses and recruitment efforts to the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and other key staff.
Team Collaboration and Professional Development
- Participate in Program meetings to understand organization goals and how the Recruitment and Admission role contributes to those objectives.
- Regularly collaborate with other departments within Onward We Learn to ensure a unified approach to student recruitment and admissions.
- Engage in regular professional development opportunities to stay current with admissions and educational trends.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
- Fluency in Spanish and demonstrated ability to communicate with multilingual families.
- Flexibility to work weekend and evening hours as needed for recruitment support and special initiatives.
- Access to reliable transportation, in addition to public transportation, to transport event materials and travel to offsite locations for recruitment events and initiatives in a timely manner.
- Efficiently allocates and utilizes time to achieve maximum productivity and effectiveness. Able to set goals, prioritize tasks, and create a structured schedule to complete essential activities within designated timeframes
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and able to learn and effectively use the latest software and technology systems employed by Onward.
- Commitment to Onward We Learn's mission, values, and strategic objectives.
- Ability to act as an advocate and ambassador for the organization, with a strong sense of ownership and pride in performance.
Preferred
- Experience with CRM systems and data analysis
- Prior knowledge of public, charter, and/or private education systems, community resources, and higher education
