About the Role: The Cast House Manager will directly report to the New Jersey Division President and will play a vital role in the operations of the Cast House Department. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient execution of casting processes. This involves utilizing advanced technical expertise to offer strategic expertise, knowledge, and guidance to achieve established production support goals consistent with ISO 9001, Quality, and Safety standards.
Your Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the casting facility, ensuring safety and efficiency, and offering guidance, coaching, and support to supervisors and cast house personnel for effective management.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and management, particularly the extrusions management team, to guarantee the achievement of organizational goals and targets.
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects, methods, and protocols associated with aluminum casting, along with a deep understanding of chemical compositions, combustion mechanisms, refractory materials, homogenization processes, and scrap utilization, among other essential elements crucial to the casting operations.
- Facilitate coordination of production planning across casting, extrusion, and shipping department, among others, and promptly identify and prioritize any issues for resolution.
- Responsible for continuously enhancing plant safety performance and proactively addressing and rectifying conditions that contribute to accidents and incidents. Work closely with the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to promptly address any issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Overseeing crew coordination, instruction, skill enhancement, and comprehensive adherence across company operations and local, state, and national regulations.
- Overseeing quality systems and procedures to ensure ongoing adherence to product standards and specifications, while also creating and executing new procedures focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Analyzing metrics and data related to scrap and the casting process and identifying opportunities for improvement based on available and projected information.
- Enhance the professional growth of cast house employees by cultivating, coaching, and fostering their capacity to excel, create, and enhance their communication and leadership proficiencies.
- Explore and integrate innovative technologies and enhancements through research and implementation.
- Responsible for coordinating and scheduling maintenance activities, collaborating closely with maintenance and project teams to uphold the timetable and minimize operational disruptions.
- Adhere to all safety and quality guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment including but not limited to adhering to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements, immediate incident reporting, and adherence to both Safety Cardinal Rules and Quality Cardinal Rules, among others.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum of 5 years of casting managerial and leadership experience required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong problem solving, delegation, conflict resolution, motivational and team building skills required.
- Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability leading/supervising teams in a complex fast-paced manufacturing environment safely and efficiently while managing multiple priorities required.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Products (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Ability to work weekends, overtime, and all shift configurations, as needed required.
- Ability to perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed above.
- Promote, support, and enforce ISO 9001 standards as they apply to the facility.
This is a hands-on position that requires you to be out in the plant leading and providing guidance to personnel.
Work Environment: Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor settings and in the plant, an unregulated environment that experiences extreme temperatures and high levels of noise, including but not limited to other uncontrollable factors.
