Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Construction Safety Manager to develop, implement, and oversee safety programs for our construction projects. The Safety Manager will ensure that all safety protocols are followed, mitigate risks, and promote a safe work environment for all site personnel. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction safety management, a strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, and a passion for fostering a safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, and enforce the company’s safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry standards.
- Job Site Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on job sites to identify potential hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions. Document findings and follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Perform risk assessments and develop job hazard analyses (JHAs) for construction activities. Collaborate with project teams to implement effective safety measures and controls.
- Safety Training and Orientation: Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and specialized training for specific tasks or equipment. Ensure all personnel are aware of safety protocols and procedures.
- Accident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations for any accidents, incidents, or near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. Prepare and maintain accident reports and safety records.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and best practices. Ensure all safety programs comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Safety Meetings: Conduct regular safety meetings with project teams, subcontractors, and site personnel to review safety performance, discuss issues, and reinforce the importance of safety.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans for job sites, including fire evacuation, first aid, and spill response procedures. Coordinate emergency drills and response training.
- Safety Metrics and Reporting: Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics, including incident rates, near-misses, and corrective actions. Provide regular updates to senior management on safety performance and initiatives.
- Subcontractor Management: Ensure all subcontractors comply with the company’s safety standards and requirements. Review subcontractor safety plans and provide guidance as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, programs, and culture. Implement safety best practices and promote continuous improvement initiatives across all job sites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably in commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in safety management software and MS Office Suite.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification is required; additional certifications such as HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, or Fire Safety are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
