DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING MANAGER
Position: Full-Time, exempt
Reports to: Development Director
Work Location: Los Angeles (California), Houston (TX), or DC Metro Area. Hybrid: in general, half time in the office, half time remote or at donor meetings, networking, outreach, or fundraising events.

At Kidsave, we work to change the lives of older children in the foster care system in the US, and around the world. Through our innovative Family Visit Model, we work to support programs that introduce kids to the community and ultimately help them find lasting connections and forever families.
We seek a passionate Champion for Change who believes in our mission to transform child welfare systems so children growing up in orphanages and foster care can be seen, find families, and thrive. The duties include managing and expanding the general donor base through innovative, new cultivation and solicitation strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong levels of communication, emotional intelligence, and drive to move Kidsave's mission forward.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Manager will work closely with the CEO, Communications & Marketing Director, and other leadership team members and be a key member of our lean and mighty Development team.
NOTE: Initial outreach for this role will begin in September 2024. The intended start date is October 1, 2024.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Strategy:
- Under the supervision of the Director of Development, help shape and execute the initiatives to grow Kidsave’s donor pipeline and create and implement an annual development plan and calendar that meets revenue goals.
- Create practical peer-to-peer fundraising plans to support our programs and fundraising committees.
- Manage and train the Development Coordinator and interns.
Donor Cultivation, Stewardship and Retention:
- Using a data-driven approach, create and implement strategies for individual and corporate donor development and cultivation which will provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for Kidsave.
- Manage a portfolio of donors with the goals of retention and growth.
- Collaborate with staff on planning fund development strategies and tactics for major organizational events.
- Work with Marketing/Communications to ensure that communication with supporters is continuous, professional, donor-friendly, and on-brand.
Events:
- Create, develop, and lead targeted events for prospects and donors for Kidsave’s annual gala, annual golf tournament, cultivation dinners, virtual events, or other formats that will engage prospects and our donor community.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage volunteer committees, vendors, and event logistics.
- Assist in developing content for sponsorship packages.
- Manage sponsorship and auction solicitations for Kidsave events.
- Develop and maintain budgets, revenue reports, tracking, and post-event follow-up.
Volunteer Management and Support:
- Manage the development of volunteers and volunteer community committees for fundraisers and program needs in sync with program and development staff.

- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with and motivate volunteers and teams; ability to work across programs and offices.
- Ability to organize and lead fundraising events, build relationships, secure sponsors and mid-level gifts, and manage and work within budgets.
- Exceptional organizational, logistics, and administrative skills. A keen eye for detail.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to learn new software quickly and work in a shared environment. Ease with technology.
Minimum Skills:
- Computer literacy: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat/Illustrator, CANVA, Constant Contact, Photoshop/VISIO, Zoom
- Experience with Salesforce and/or other Peer to Peer platforms
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write professional development copy and present/speak with donors and constituents.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE (minimum requirements):
- 5-7 years of work experience, with at least four years of relatable non-profit experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous success in meeting fundraising goals through diverse funding streams
- Event management, experience securing sponsorships and mid-level/major gifts
- Volunteer management experience
- Copy and grant writing, annual giving, and planned giving experience are a plus
