We are currently seeking a litigation associate attorney for a general practice law firm in Columbia, SC. This well-known litigation firm has multiple offices and is passionate about helping its clients. This firm focuses on higher value and impactful cases. The focus for this associate includes personal injury cases, worker’s compensation cases, and the opportunity to expand into criminal defense cases.
Example Job Responsibilities:
- Drafting and filing of litigation documents to include pleadings, evidentiary preservation letters, discovery requests, discovery responses, demands, motions, and memorandum
- Guide clients through the case process
- Interaction with expert witnesses to include conferences, drafting of expert reports, accident reconstruction and affidavits
- Attendance and preparation for depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances
- Traveling for court appearances
Minimum and Additional Qualifications:
- A JD from an accredited law school and a member of the SC Bar in good standing
- 2-5 years experience practicing as an attorney with knowledge of and experience in litigation and civil procedure
- Strong legal writing skills including experience in drafting briefs and other legal documents
- Ability to express arguments and conclusions clearly and logically
- Strong research, organizational and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented, hardworking, and results-driven team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience gathering evidence to be used in trial & interviewing key witnesses
- Must have litigation experience and in-court trial experience.
