Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Civil Engineer to play a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of design projects, meeting goals, and adhering to schedules and budgets. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in water infrastructure design, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design in the execution of multiple potable water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution design projects.
- Prepare comprehensive design plans and specifications for various water infrastructure projects.
- Plan, direct, assign, review, and evaluate the work of the assigned staff, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to project objectives.
- Conduct performance evaluations and career development profiles for direct reports.
- Coordinate internal and external resources, including consultants, to ensure the timely completion of design projects.
- Work closely with asset management, operations, customer service, and water quality staff to achieve project goals.
- Prioritize design projects within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Monitor and report on project schedules and budgets, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Perform QA/QC on design projects carried out by the team as well as external consultants.
- Oversee and ensure the overall QA/QC processes within the design team.
- Engage and manage consultants, including reviewing and approving invoices.
- Review and provide input on submittals and field changes during the construction phase.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college.
- Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer or Mechanical Engineer in the State of California.
- 6 years of progressively responsible experience in water infrastructure design.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
