Digital Twin Electrical Engineer
Locations: Onsite in Columbia, South Carolina (Hybrid 3/2)
What We Do:
Integer Technologies is an applied research and product development company founded by scientists and engineers with a passion for technology and national security. We perform R&D on next-generation systems and technologies for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other U.S. Government agencies, turning research into impactful products with military and commercial applications. Our core portfolio of research includes projects in power & energy systems, unmanned systems (with an emphasis on maritime systems), digital engineering, and advanced manufacturing.
Our power & energy systems portfolio supports the DoD’s electrification of platforms, such as Navy ships. Our research involves hybrid and electric propulsion systems, large energy storage devices, power converters, autonomy, digital twins, and integration with mission systems to achieve fast and reliable power system response.
About the Role:
The Digital Twin Engineer role requires passion and drive to create and maintain virtual representations of multi-domain/Multiphysics physical systems to be used for applications such as health monitoring, diagnostics, prognostics, and advanced controls. The Digital Twin Engineer should understand how to identify important features and dynamic phenomena of a physical system, create appropriate computer models of these systems which incorporate the relevant features, dynamics, and application-critical behaviors, write software to connect the models to the physical systems through live streaming data feedback channels, and update the models in both real time and faster than real time. A successful candidate will understand how to balance the trade-offs between model fidelity, streaming data sampling rate, digital twin execution time step, domain representation integrity, and computational resources, to develop a family of component and system level digital twins appropriate to a variety of applications. The Digital Twin Engineer will work both individually and in concert with other engineers, subject-matter experts, and program management to devise suitable digital twin strategies (including physics-based and behavioral approaches) and subsequently to produce robust, reliable digital twins for several customers across government and industry.
The successful candidate must demonstrate an attitude for growth, continuously expanding their knowledge and skill to remain on the cutting-edge. The candidate must be organized and detail oriented. This role may involve interacting with customers whose needs are constantly evolving and are sometimes difficult to articulate; thus, strong communication skills will also be beneficial.
Integer is a science and technology research and development organization. As such, much of our work entails developing solutions for complex problems that presently have no known solutions. To achieve internal and customer project goals all candidates must be able to perform research, understand new concepts from other engineering disciplines on advanced and complex topics, and document findings in a way that is easy for non-experts to understand.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary which exceeds local & national industry averages.
- Integer fully covers medical, prescription, vision, and dental insurance costs for the employee and dependents. Integer’s standard plan pays 100% of health insurance premiums for your entire family from a well-known national insurer, saving employees thousands of dollars annually.
- Year-end performance-based bonuses.
- 401(k) with company matching that vest immediately; no funny business.
- Paid vacation.
