We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Planning and Procurement Specialist/Manager to join our team at our Northbrook, IL location.
About the Role:
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to interpret forecasts and extrapolate data to plan purchasing needs for production.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, including negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure a robust and reliable supply chain.
- Oversee the performance of existing suppliers and implement improvement plans as needed.
- Coordinate with internal commercial and operations teams to align procurement activities with company goals and objectives.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers to identify opportunities for cost savings and quality improvements.
- Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and market conditions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities.
- This position will be a part of the Manufacturing Operations department, reporting to the department head and with a dotted line to the CFO.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing, exposure to medical device, personal care, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industries a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Proven experience in supplier and vendor management, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in purchasing for a medical device, personal care, healthcare, or pharmaceutical company.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks, ERP systems and procurement software.
