Radiochemist II
Salary Range: $61,000-$75,000 depending on experience
Location: Onsite Atlanta, GA
Kelly Science is seeking a Radiochemist II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for manufacturing radioactive calibration standards, check sources, and proficiency testing samples. You will play a key role in our traceability program, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Manufacture calibration standards, check sources, and proficiency testing samples.
- Produce mixed isotope batches to support laboratory operations.
- Perform gas and solution calibrations and review Certificates of Calibration.
- Maintain laboratory environment, equipment, and inventories of radionuclides and chemicals.
- Plan and execute quarterly performance testing programs.
- Evaluate data, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Inspect incoming radioactive materials and perform related QC measurements.
- Support the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO standards.
- Manage radioactive waste collection and cleanup procedures.
- Review, revise, and write laboratory procedures.
- Train new employees on laboratory processes.
Requirements:
- Minimum education required: 4-year degree in Chemistry or related field OR 5 years of experience in radiochemistry and standard preparation.
- Minimum experience required: 3 years combining wet radiochemistry, nuclear counting methodology, and ideally nuclear physics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- Proficient in basic laboratory techniques and Good Laboratory Practices.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety when handling radioactive materials.
- Knowledge of mathematical concepts and ability to solve practical problems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and nuclear data software is preferred.
- Experience with power tools and machinery is a plus.
