Location: Bartlett, IL
Schedule: Full-time, onsite
Travel: Minimal (approximately 1 day per month, mostly day trips)
About Us:
We are excited to partner with a cutting-edge organization in need of a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their state-of-the-art facility and high-performing, project-based team. This role offers excellent advancement opportunities, training and development, and a comprehensive benefits package with bonus potential. The company is dedicated to fostering long-term career growth and is searching for a committed individual to play a crucial role in their engineering department.
Position Overview:
The company is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience who understands how to translate designs from CAD into real-world machinery. This role involves 75% design work, 10-15% team meetings, and 10-15% shop floor integration, collaborating closely with the production team to bring fully custom, one-off designs to life.
This is a project-based role, where engineers are assigned to a few different teams and work on large-scale projects from start to finish. Projects typically last 1-2 years and are valued at $1M+. Stability is key, and the company is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who can contribute to their long-term success. If you have a strong automation or capital equipment design background and can thrive in a dynamic work environment, this is an excellent opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design custom automation or capital equipment using SolidWorks (AutoCAD experience is also considered).
- Model parts and assemblies for large-scale projects from scratch (not tweaks to existing designs).
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are executed seamlessly from CAD to real-world applications.
- Attend client meetings and provide technical expertise on project updates, working alongside the Project Manager.
- Participate in team meetings and shop floor troubleshooting, ensuring smooth execution of designs.
- Occasional travel for installations or maintenance support as needed.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 8+ years of total industry experience, with at least 5 years focused on automation design or capital equipment design.
- Strong proficiency in 3D solid modeling, especially SolidWorks (AutoCAD is acceptable).
- Experience modeling parts and assemblies for projects worth over $1M.
- Experience bringing custom, one-off designs to life, not just tweaking pre-existing models.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (candidates without a degree must have 10+ years of experience).
- Experience overseeing and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience in client-facing roles, including giving technical presentations and updates on projects.
What We Offer:
- A state-of-the-art facility with a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
- Project-based work with large-scale, custom designs that will keep you engaged and challenged.
- Opportunities for advancement within a company that values long-term stability.
- Comprehensive training and development programs.
- Full benefits package including bonus potential.
If you're an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a passion for creating custom machinery and you're looking for a long-term opportunity in a cutting-edge facility, this is the place for you!.
