Our client in the non-profit industry has an exciting opportunity for an operations professional who wants to help the Resource Development (RD) team take their operations to the next level in this brand-new position. The Director, Fundraising Operations (also known as Director, Resource Development Operations) serves as a leader and member of the RD Senior Management Team (SMT). This is a crosscutting role within a 60+ person fundraising team, which is expected to oversee the departmental Budget, Operations, Business Plan, Project Management and Fundraising Systems, used by the fundraisers. The Director, RD Operations is a strategic partner, passionate supporter of the company mission, and is dedicated to streamlining and optimizing RD operations and thereby strengthen and enhance its fundraising goals and strategy. This position will be hybrid and based out of the New York office.
- This is a full-time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $160,000-$175,000 per year
Responsibilities:
- Manage Resource Development annual global budget including forecasting requirements, monitoring departmental expenditures and income
- Oversee Resource Development’s data management, serve as the liaison to the IT and Gift Processing and Analytics Departments regarding reporting, analysis, and evaluation work
- Head up the implementation on behalf of RD of a fundraising system upgrade and future changes, including defining business rules and serving on an inter-departmental Project Management Team
- Identify and present high-level analytics related to the RD efforts to JDC and external stakeholders, in collaboration with colleagues
- Collaborate with IT, Project Management and Gift Processing and Analytics Departments to ensure data informs and guides strategic Resource Development efforts
- Plan Global RD Forums, including coordination of RD role in Board Meetings
- Lead oversight and management of RD projects
- Review and update department policies and procedures
- Work with CAO and SMT to facilitate annual planning process, including setting the long term and short-term planning priorities, fundraising goals and metrics, and board meeting planning
- Develop and execute 3–5-year business plan for the department
- Supervise the RD Systems and Donor Services teams
- Supervise an Administrative Assistant
- Networks, benchmarking best-practices, participating in professional societies
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced budgeting and financial experience across monitoring, forecasting, and operations, including experience with multiple locations globally
- Relevant training in an advanced degree, such as a master’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, system science, statistics, or related fields, required
- Strategic and operational mindset
- Experience with business plan design and implementation
- Experience with change management, propelling change, supervising during organizational change processes, and generating buy-in
- Strong skill and experience in qualitative data gathering, analysis, and reporting; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop cases
- Project management expertise; ability and experience with prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent projects while delivering timely and accurate results
- Ability to work effectively with IT to implement appropriate technologies, able to translate fundraiser needs to technical experts
- Comfortable working in a complex, global, and fast-paced organization
- Ability to work both on one’s own and in a team environment
- Sensitivity when working with highly confidential information and ability to maintain discretion
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to explain complex insights with clarity and precision
- Excellent relational skills; ability to resourcefully network internally and build trust and report
- Experience with Raisers Edge or other fundraising CRM systems and other relational databases
- Leadership and management experience in a philanthropic field
- Familiarity with Jewish organizations
- Passion for humanitarian work and/or global Jewish service strongly preferred
