Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our client's dynamic team.
In this role, you will be responsible for complex electrical design calculations and drawing development for the construction, maintenance, and repair of maritime vessels and shipboard systems.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring vessel designs comply with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications, and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
Perform complex electrical design calculations for maritime vessels and shipboard systems
Develop and review drawings for compliance, accuracy, and ease of production
Ensure vessel designs meet regulatory requirements and customer specifications
Manage technical aspects of design and analysis projects from concept to completion
Liaise with production teams and provide technical support during construction
Collaborate with project teams to implement vessel and vessel component designs
Review and approve electrical system designs and modifications
Conduct Electric Plant Load Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis, Voltage Drop, and Breaker Coordination Studies
Stay updated on industry standards and regulations, ensuring designs meet all requirements
Required Experience/Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
3+ years of relevant engineering experience in the shipbuilding industry
Strong working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (e.g., ABS, NAVSEA, MIL, USCG, IMO)
Demonstrated experience in the design and construction of US Navy vessels
Thorough knowledge of power distribution, motor controllers, variable frequency drives, lighting systems, and communication systems
Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office products
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong leadership abilities and capacity to contribute to company culture
Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and manage multiple projects
Experience with Electric Plant Load Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis, Voltage Drop, and Breaker Coordination Studies
Thorough knowledge of IEEE standards, ABS rules, IEC standards, SOLAS, Military Specifications, and/or NEC
Nice-to-Haves
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience with 3D modeling software
Familiarity with green technologies and energy-efficient systems in shipbuilding
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for maritime systems
Experience with project management tools and methodologies
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field (required)
Advanced degree in a relevant field (preferred)
